Got iPod? iPhone? Need a portable sound system for those trips to the beach or a picnic? I would recommend the Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere 2 based on personal listening experiences and my website, iLounge.com for giving it an A- highly recommended rating. It comes with a wireless remote, AC adapter, travel case and dock adapters for various sized iPod/iPhone models. If you have a local Apple store near you stop in and give them a listen.

Do you trust plastic chocks to stabilize your Airstream? The all steel X-Chock ($50) wheel chock is placed between your two wheels and then you crank the tension with the included wrench. The X design locks your wheels in place and there’s no movement. Also available is an optional lock ($9) to secure the chock.

We all know counter space is precious inside an Airstream trailer. Use the InAndOut Trivet ($20) to set that hot pot down on the dinette table and continue your cooking on the stove. It’s a very clever trivet in that it can accommodate different sized pots and pans. While it’s flipped in you can set a small pot on it, then flip it out to set a larger sauce pan on it. Getting two or more of these would really make sense for Airstream cooking. It comes in blue, gray, olive or raspberry.

With your Airstream in tow and motoring down Retro Highway you see a bit of Americana as you pass various eateries and their signs of yesteryear. Now you can eat on those signs. A set of 4 melamine Restaurant Sign dinner plates ($40) capture bygone days of flashing light bulbs, neon and hand painted signs. Also available is the Let’s Eat serving tray ($20)and a set of 36 Roadside disposable place mats ($23) to match.

The sun has just disappeared behind the mountains in the distance. The grilled steak was delicious. You sit outside in your old aluminum lawn chair enjoying a nice glass of wine and and watching the kids at play. There’s a soft warm glow reflected on your Airstream. The Sun Jar ($35) by designer Tobi Wong is a glass jar containing LEDs powered by a small solar panel. Catch the sun during the day and store it for night use. The nostalgic mason jar design reminds me of warm summer nights catching lightning bugs as a kid. Those were the days.

I like robots. Robots are cool. Here’s one I found while browsing the Design Within Reach website. It’s an all tin, Forbidden Planet, Robby the Robot reproduction. “Planet Robot ($30) walks on independently moving legs, powered by a wind-up crank motor. As Planet Robot walks, sparks fly inside its face shield and chest cover, produced by spinning gyros inside.” Spinning gyros! You know you want one for your Airstream. I ordered one.

I’m obsessing over the thought of purchasing our new Airstream. It’s still months away, but I’ve been eyeing the ‘net for various accessories for the trailer. I’m a gadget guy and well designed, modern, techie stuff catches my eye like a kid in a candy store. OK, so I want a wall clock for the trailer. There are thousands available, but the Just A Moment clock ($72) by Reddish Studio is simple, yet different than standard clocks. Its round corners and metal finish would compliment the interior of an International Airstream… especially its exposed aluminum walls.

When I first started browsing the ‘net for anything Airstream I found a wow item at Airstream’s online store. They actually make a desk that resembles the rear of a trailer. The Airstream Office Desk features authentic LED brake lights, side marker lights, choice of two different laminate tops and several different storage arrangements. At $1600 it’s not cheap, but you’ll have a very unique desk and what a conversation piece. I wonder who actually owns one?

Here’s a great way to organize and charge all your mobile tech while camped in your trailer. The ReFresh by Bluelounge is a charging station which features cables for most new mobile devices, a rubber surface for grip and comes in black, white and pink. The design will go well with the interior of our soon to be purchased International SS. The Refresh sells for $90. Bluelounge also sells CableDrop, a six pack of cable organizers that can help wrangle loose cables on tables, counters and etc. $10. Over at the Air Forums one of the members asked how others transport their wines safely inside an Airstream. Member “Astroboy” suggested using a neoprene tote by Built. They cushion the bottles and you can stuff them under cushions for further protection. The wine totes come in single, two and six bottle versions and lots of colors and patterns. I’ve never needed one before, but it may just work for traveling with wine. The two-bottle version costs $15-$20.
